whats so special about 5.6 million dollar gate sales for marquez vs mayweather
pacquiao vs hatton generated 8.3 million dollar gate sales

No if the fight is doing well then those $300 tickets would have sold out by now. So far I heard only three thousand tickets have been sold for Mayweather vs Marquez. Meanwhile for Pacquiao vs. Cotto LESS than 1000 tickets remain at the 16,200 seat MGM grand. So that means they sold 15,000+ tickets.

thats because they want to sell the 300 dollar seats which is not bad, they have 1200 dollar seat sold and all other priced seats sold. that means the fight is going well.

From ticketmaster and on fighthype(aint this a familiar site to you karceno?). Anyway there are still plenty of 300 dollar tickets left for a fight 9 days away. Next week Marquez is gonna eat his Sh!t if the ticket sales dont go up. lol

The man says he’s fighting to add some more stars to his legacy. If he beats Marquez, then Pac and retires again, he will be remembered as one of the greatest fighters — not of all time– but of this era. He will not be remembered as one of the greatest welterweights. He will not have his name mentioned in the same breath as Leonard and Hearns, and that is a shame because he has the ability.

Baldo did his thing when he steamrolled Judah, and I can’t knock Mayweather for beating both of them. At least they were both welterweights, but fighting the loser of Judah vs Baldomir first makes you question Mayweather’s belief in himself. If it’s about money the way Karceno says, he would have made more by taking the title from Baldomir because the Judah fight would have been a championship fight. As a fan, I want to see the best fight the best — I’m frustrated by some of M’s choices.

    mr. karceno,

i appreciate the inside scoop and the fearless commentary, but how about saying a word or two about the alleged slow ticket sales for mayweather-marquez and the reports saying undefeated light welterweight prospect lamont peterson gave floyd all he could handle in sparring.

    any truth to those rumors?

UrbanFilmworx: it’s not always clear who the “best” is, especially with the plethora of ABC trinkets that go around these days.

however, when a guy holds all the titles, like zab did in ‘05, then it becomes more or less clear who the “best” is in his division.

as the cliche goes, “in order to be the best you have to beat the best” - and that’s pretty much what baldomir did when he beat judah, wouldn’t you say?

PBF could have become mr. undisputed in ‘07 had he fought at defeated the then unbeaten rising star from Puerto Rico, Miguel Cotto. but instead he opted to fight hatton and retire.

When PBF beat judah, he only won the IBF belt and the lightly regarded IBO strap, which was then vacant.

a win over baldomir later that year would make him the WBC, IBF and IBO champion, the WBA trinket having been held by Luis Collazo at the time.

hence, by mere technicality, floyd was never the undisputed welterweight champion. yes, he was the lineal champion. yes, he was the WBC, IBF and IBO champion, but never did he hold the WBA world championship.

you’re both right, in a way.

to be the “undisputed champion” means to hold the belts of all three major sanctioning bodies (WBC, WBA & IBF). the last welterweight to gain that distinction was Judah, when he beat Spinks in ‘05.

Although Baldomir beat Judah a year later, he only won the WBC strap since the he refused to pay the WBA & IBF sanctioning fees. judah remained IBF champ even after the defeat but was stripped of the WBA title.

I agree. It was a b. move and will backfire on two levels. Financially, the fight is not drawing, which is the real reason for the first postponement, and two: he will not be an easy fight for Floyd.

Baldomir was not the undisputed champion when Floyd fought him, and although he had one of the belts, he was nowhere near the best welterweight at that time. I’m just saying that as a fan of the sport I want to see Floyd pit himself against the best welterweights in the world after his inevitable big payday with Pac Man. Don’t you want to see him fight the likes of Cotto and Mosely?

Floyd beat Baldomir who was the undisputed champion. and Judah was 2nd. so he beat one and two at 147. there was no berto, no paul williams. mosley was at 154 then. so what are you saying

    Comment | November 3, 2009
  • Karceno

hes not even fighting at that weight an yall want to see him fight floyd, thats whats wrong with boxing he should be fighting berto or cintron or mosley gets some names under your belt b4 you go after the best. margarito was a bum period. he just proved that correct.

another moronic reply karceno. i already explained to you that its the other way around, FLOYD IS NOT READY FOR WILLIAMS. if williams, a legit welterweight doesnt deserve a shot, what makes a lightweight who never fought above 135 deserving to have a shot? karceno, youre getting owned on all of your vids. keep riding floyds dick

there no question about floyds talent, the guy is great. hes being treated like shit cause hes a welterweight and doesnt want to fight the top guys in his division. he retired, came back then chose a lightweight to be his opponent. bitch move at its best

LOL the fight was a draw up until the KO, if you knew anything about Marquez hes slow to start in every! fight, hes a championship fighter not a front runner like a Zab Judah, who is given chance after chance even after hes convincingly stopped time and time again. Juan Diaz is one of the 10 most popular fighters in the world so of course HBO want his fights its a good business move. There is talks hes going to fight Valero or Peterson so your theory is ridiculous.

karceno, just pray that both floyd and pac get past their current assignments so we can be treated to something really special, something that we haven’t seen since the 80’s. the best of the decade. the perfect boxer vs the perfect brawler. impregnable defense vs unrelenting offense. in the end, both fighters take home heaps and heaps of dough, the fans are entertained as, win or lose, pac will bring it, and we have an awesome story to tell our grand kids when we get old. peace out
